And By 2040
“According to the American City Business Journals’ population database, by 2040 a projected 10.9 million people will be living in North Texas. That’s a 53.5 percent increase during the next 25 years.”
However, if the projections hold true, the Dallas/Fort Worth area won’t be No. 1 in the state anymore.
The Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area is expected to have 11.1 million people by 2040, a 66.7 percent increase from the 6.6 million it boasts now.
With the massive growth in jobs, development, and population, the state of Texas is busy acquiring property to build a 400 mile long speed train that will allow citizens to travel from Houston to Dallas in 45 minutes. Texas Central will be the construction company leading the effort. They plan to hire 10,000 people a year to build this and will start in 2018.
